Just like pretty much everyone else on the East Coast of the US, we got some snow this past weekend. It started on Thursday evening and didn’t seem to let up until sometime Saturday. We had shoveled about 3-4 times over the course of that period but when it warmed up a bit on Sunday, we decided to go out and clear the driveway down to the pavement.
Ian was a big helper in the shoveling department. After I got a few pictures, I went back inside to get Matthew ready to go out. (Read: We knew once Matthew’s toes touched the ground, we’d mostly be frantically chasing him to keep him from bolting in the street and no shoveling would get done.)
As predicted, Matthew tried to run away the second he was down. I managed to get a few shots of him checking out the snow. (Except for a few brief moments to play in the snow when he’s removed from his car seat, Matthew really hasn’t had the opportunity to play in it before.) As is pretty typical for him, he decided he needed to taste the snow. He squatted down, leaned over and stuck his face in it for a big bite. LOL You can kind of see snow on his face, hat and coat in some of the pictures below.
In order to corral our little runner, we got the sled out and Mike spent a while dragging them in circles in the yard. Matthew fairly quickly figured out he could eat more snow if he “fell off” the sled and then we couldn’t keep him on. He enjoyed it when Daddy and Ian ran by him, though.
He actually asked me to take a picture of him when I (apparently) was too focused on Matthew:

(This was the first time we’d tried mittens with Matthew and he actually left them on pretty much the whole time we were outside. Way longer than I expected.)
