It’s been years (::cough::decades::cough::) since I was last on the Maid of the Mist and the boys (all 3) had never gone so we decided to go one Saturday after Matthew’s t-ball game.  Sometimes it’s fun playing tourist in your own backyard!

Super excited!

Maid of the Mist – since 1846

The boys posing in line. Behind them is the Rainbow Bridge – one of the 4 area bridges that cross over the Niagara River from the USA into Canada.

Ready to get misted!

I used my cellphone to take pictures and at some point I changed the setting to square.  It was hard to control because the phone and my hands were soaking wet!

Behind Ian is the “Cave of the Winds” and the “hurricane” deck that they built each year.

Ever seen this commercial?

We stayed at the back of the boat when we boarded knowing that when we headed back to the dock that we’d have a front row seat to the mist of the Horseshoe Falls.

It’s what I imagine it’s like being in the middle of a cloud.  LOL

I had to stop taking pictures shortly after this because I was worried I’d break my (case-less) iPhone.

The Canadian boat tour is distinguishable by the tourists’ red ponchos. If you look just beyond the boat, you can see some remaining snow and ice on the rocks. It was a looong winter. LOL

After we left the heavily misted areas, Ian sculpted his wet hair into a mohawk.

Prospect Point observation tower from the deck of the boat. The Maid of the Mist loads at the base of the tower.

The next boat loading up with passengers.

The view as you leave the boat.

Afterward, we headed to the observation deck of Prospect Point to take some pictures (and freak Mike out). The boat in the picture is the one we took pictures of while it was loading.

I love this boy. 🙂

Next time, we need to check out Cave of the Winds!
