I found out about this really cool program called Kids Bowl Free from some online friends. Usually these programs only are available to people who live in bigger cities so I never expected anyone local to participate. Much to my surprise, there were a TON of bowling centers in our area were participating in the program. I immediately signed Ian up and then bought a family membership. Essentially, the whole family gets 2 free games of bowling EVERYDAY all summer long! What a deal!
Today was the first day that we used it and it was a ton of fun. I anticipate us going back MANY times before it expires!
Here’s Ian just waiting for the lane to be prepped. He’s got his little size 10 bowling shoes on and is ready to bowl!
Ian, Daddy and Aunt Rachel sat at our lane while everyone got ready to bowl.
So excited!
Ian taking his first try at bowling
Not sure how he did it but he managed to pick up a spare on his first frame. And didn’t use the bumpers to get it!
Ian was great at taking turns. He had a hard time remembering who he bowled AFTER but he was always a good sport about sitting and waiting his turn.
He was a great cheerleader too. Always willing to slap hands and give high-fives to the current bowler.
As you can see, Ian had a darn good first game ever!
Ian learned the move that every amateur bowler does: the “lean”. You know, in the hopes that your body leaning to one side will edge the ball in that direction.
Sometimes it manifested in the form of a wiggle.
Ian had so much fun bowling. The adults had fun too. Ian’s enjoyment was contagious.
Ian, as usual, was a ham and was being silly for the camera.
Mike bowled a really great second game!
Ian bowled a respectable second game and Daddy was the winner by a mile!
Can’t wait to go again!
By the way, many thanks to Papaw for watching Matthew. Matthew was forced to skip his morning nap and was a bit of a grouchy bum during the bowling. Papaw did a great job keeping Matthew happy. THANK YOU!
