Or, I guess you could name this post, “Ian’s first time playing in snow”. 🙂
So despite the fact that we live in a region that the entire nation has identified as THE Snow Capital of THE EARTH, we’ve NEVER taken Ian out to play in the snow.
Literally.
In 2 yrs.
His first winter he was too little. Since he was born in late February, there was no “playing in the snow” occuring outside of taking him in and out of the house in his infant carseat.
Then, last year he wasn’t interested. He was barely was walking and [**bad parent alert**] it was just too hard to fit in with Mike and I both working full time and it getting dark at 2:30 in the afternoon.
Weeeeeelllll, since we got close to 2 ft of snow this past weekend, were pretty much house-bound and had a sled, snowpants and boots collecting dust, I thought we might go out for a bit. I was a little worried because in the last few weks, Ian has been a little freaked out by walking in the snow (I have no idea why) and the child REFUSES (and I do mean REFUSES) to wear gloves.
We bundled him up (which was a project that left me sweaty and exhausted) and took him out. Of course, it was like 20 degrees so we were only out for 10 mins but he had a ton of fun. Now that I think of it, I think the bundling part took longer than the playing part. haha
Anyway, Ian had TONS of fun. Lots of “wow”s and “weeee”s while kicking back on his Daddy-driven sled. He spent the rest of the day asking to go out (“bye bye? BYE BYE?!?!”). Unfortunately it was just too darn cold out.
Going off for his first spin on the sled:
Checking the neighborhood out:
Daddy and Ian (like Mike’s snowblowing gear? ):
Looks like he had a blast! Love the socks – I will have to try that with hannah!
What a cutie in those sunglasses.
Great pictures…looks like he had a great time. We did the sock trick with my dd when she was younger too. But it was mainly because we could never find 2 gloves.
