Mike and I were trying to get curtains hung in Ian’s bedroom….doesn’t sound like much of a project but indeed it was a looooooong, painful process.

First, the curtain rod wasn’t hung level. As in, very noticably uneven. Despite the fact that it was measured before the holes were drilled.

Then, the second curtain rod (for the sheers) was hung too high and interfered with the usage of the curtain rod needed for the curtains. Down it came and, again, new holes were drilled.

Then, we discovered the supports for the first curtain rod weren’t hung wide enough.

And finally, we discovered that the rod for the sheers was hung too low which meant the sheers were peaking out below the curtains.

(there is a point to all of this rambling)

During the marathon curtain hanging process (which isn’t completely done, by the way), Ian got kind of bored and got ahold of one of the curtain rods. One of those normal, adjustable length rods with a slight curve at the end.

After a little while of silence (RED ALERT: OUR TODDLER IS SILENT!), Mike caught him in the nursery using the curtain rod to hit the small Baby Einstein blocks around.

And the little monster was quietly saying “hockey! hockey!” under his breath. 🙂

Where did my child learn about hockey? Certainly NOT from Mike or me. Its never on here as we don’t really like the sport. And he’s never at NeeNee and Papaw’s house during game time…..yet somehow he picked it up and decided to play hockey with a curtain rod and block. 🙂

After we discovered him and told him how smart he was, whenever we tried to do anything else upstairs, he’d pick up his improvised hockey puck, carry it into whatever room we were in, and tell us to “watch! watch!” while he played hockey. What a ham!
