Just over a week ago (on Sunday, April 18th), Ian and I planted some seeds in a little seed starter tray:

This is what it looked like on the Thursday after we planted them (4/22):

Here they are, just 4 days later, on Monday, April 26th:

(Corn seeds are the outside 2 rows with the thicker, slightly shorter plants. The pea seeds are the plants in the middle row with the tall, skinny stalks. We also planted some flowers and carrots in this tray.)

Wow! It’s crazy how much they grew in 4 short days!!! To say that the corn and pea seeds grew quickly is probably the understatement of the century.

They grew so big, so fast that I had to transplant them into bigger pots tonight!

The next step is to plant them in the garden. We just need to wait another 3 weeks until we pass the last frost date for the area. Quite frankly, I’m not sure they’re going to last that long in these containers…I may be transplanting them into bigger pots before then!

Another note (so I don’t forget): I had 4 “cells” in the starter tray with corn seeds that haven’t sprouted yet. I’m thinking they probably aren’t going to sprout but I haven’t given up hope. I may not have given up hope but I’m not holding my breath either. LOL As a result, while I was playing with dirt, seeds and containers (and making a giant mess) tonight, I started a container with 9 more seeds/plants. The other seeds have grown so fast that I’m not too worried about them being ready to put in the ground in 3 weeks.
