Friday night, one of the elementary schools in our district was having a benefit to raise money for Amnesty International to benefit Darfur.
Admission was $5 per family and the party included trick-or-treating, cider, donuts, crafts, a gym full of games/activities, Halloween-themed children’s movies and a basket auction. There was a ton of stuff to see and do and the boys had a ball! (When we left, the parking lot was so full, cars were double parked in the grass!)
In the gym, playing a bowling game:
High school students were helping out by monitoring and running the games in the gym.
They were playing a Winnie the Pooh movie on a big screen and you could sit on the floor to watch. It was nice because the kids could come and go as they pleased. Ian sat and watched for a while but Matthew mostly ran around the dark theater. 🙂
Cheesing with the boys in the theater:
Somehow Ian managed to find a classmate in the dark theater. 🙂 Aren’t they cute?
Ian’s first movie date!
We went back to the gym to play and we found Ian’s BFF Jason!!!
And I finally got to meet Jason’s mom and dad! Yay!
Matthew dancing to the music in the gym:
That was actually the second time we heard “Thriller” and both times he stopped to dance. The girl “helping” him play the game was totally amused with him and his dancing. 🙂
(The purpose of the game was to throw soft, squishy balls at the ghost “targets” on the cushioned walls.)
Overall it was a REALLY awesome Halloween party. If they have it again next year, we’ll definitely go again!
On Saturday, we went to a free party put on by our neighborhood association and it kind of stunk. It was held in the cafeteria of Ian’s school. Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Jackie met us at home after bowling and then came with us to the party.
The boys pretty much jumped around in the bounce house for about 20 minutes straight until we talked Ian out of it and forcably removed Matthew. 🙂
We snuck down the hallway to show Mike’s family where Ian’s classroom was. Mrs. G and her husband were inside decorating for November/Thanksgiving and the boys totally walked in on them. I felt really bad that we interrupted them but it was nice for Mike’s family to see the classroom. Hopefully, Mrs. G wasn’t too upset with us. 🙂
