Friday night is the best night to go see a Buffalo Bisons game in downtown Buffalo. The organization hosts a pre-game party, has live music in the tunnels, then ends the night with a post-game fireworks display. We went twice this summer and had a blast. The first game we went to this summer, we were directly behind home plate and we were able to get a game ball AND get on the scoreboard a few times. The second game was a good time too. We went when Courtney came to town so there were 11 of us there. During that game, one of our seats was called in a prize raffle and we won a gift certificate to a local restaurant. Pretty cool!

In July, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo debuted a new exhibit called “Sincerely Yours: Treasures of the Queen City”. The exhibit provided an opportunity to see 70 master works from van Gogh, Picasso and Warhol along with Giacomo Balla, Salvador Dali, Paul Gauguin, Frida Kahlo, Roy Lichtenstein, Henri Matisse, Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. All of the works are part of the Albright-Knox permanent collection but had been on display at other museums across the nation. The museum provided free admission to the public and had food trucks and live music during the event.
I’m not sure we would have gone if we had to pay for admission (we are NOT modern art aficionados) but it was interesting to see. The boys were really too young to appreciate the exhibit (or share their parents’ disinterest in modern art) so we weren’t able to spend much time looking at the art. Mike didn’t really enjoy it much but I would have probably gone through slower and read more signs if we weren’t trying to keep the boys under control. We also took a nice walk over to Hoyt Lake, around some of Delaware Park, and through the Delaware Park Rose Gardens.
Just a couple of months late…
