Matthew decided he wanted to be a Minecraft Creeper for Halloween. To make his costume, I ordered a hoodie and got him some green pants to wear. I was feeling a little inspired so I decided to make him some Creeper shoes. I worked on them while the boys went on their fall camping adventure.
We had to go to 2 different Walmarts (my nemesis) to find these canvas shoes in the right size:
If I made these again, I’d try to make the colors a little more random/less repeating. Part of that was poor planning on my part. Part of it was that I only had 4 paint colors. 🙂
The edges didn’t turn out as clean as I wanted either. I tried to clean it up a little with nail polish remover but mostly just left it. It was hard to see when he was wearing them and I figured my level of perfectionism was completely unnecessary for a silly Halloween costume shoes. LOL
Overall, I was pretty proud of myself and he LOVED the shoes. 🙂
Fall camping weekend coincided with our beautiful fall weather taking a left turn towards “impending winter”. The forecast predicted frequent rain showers turning to snow in the higher elevations. Not the best weather for their trip but the boys had a ball.
Here they are all dry, warm, clean, and not remotely muddy…ready to head off on their great adventure in the woods.
